Al taught “Acting From The Ground Up: How An Actor Prepares To Play The Role” as a fresh approach to acting that took a comprehensive, in-depth look at the building blocks of the actor’s work in creating a role in a play through a variety of games, exercises, and improvisations.

Al taught a fun and exciting “Theater Improv” course to help students beat those winter doldrums away! The class was suited for (but not limited to) non-actors as students participated in improvisations and theater games to develop creativity and spontaneity. Also, the course built self-confidence, allowed students to express themselves fully and freely, engaged their adventurous spirit, helped overcome shyness and let them laugh the winter blues away! This fun course reinvigorated all involved!

Al taught “From Page To Stage: A Proactive Monologue and Scene Workshop” to an enthusiastic group who wanted to learn to actively apply the actor’s many tools to the written word, in order to bring creativity, spontaneity and authenticity to the characters they create onstage. The class explored the challenges of monologue and scene work in fresh and exciting ways.

Al taught “Acting From The Ground Up: How An Actor Prepares To Play The Role.” Al worked with students to explore the fundamentals of the art, including partnership, action, objective, character, emotion, and conflict, through a variety of games, exercises, and improvisations. The workshop was suitable for beginners as well as experienced actors who were looking for an active workout while revisiting the essential elements of their stagecraft.

Al led a workshop with the students of the Musical Theatre Department who presented the new musical The Sock Who Lost His Mate. Students experienced what was involved in working on new material with a professional director and writers, and they got to memorialize their performances in a studio recording of the score! To see and hear the results of that workshop, visit www.thesockwholosthismate.com
